Groisman: Agricultural sector is economic development driving force

As of this week, while speaking within the festivities on the occasion of the Day of Agricultural Workers, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman has said the agricultural sector is an engine of the development of the Ukrainian economy, and the issue concerning the support of the industry must not go unheeded, Government Portal reports.
As to Groisman, now about 3 million people work within the Ukrainian agrarian sector, and agribusinesses provide up to 40% of the State total currency proceeds.
«What ought to be done? There should be targeted support for farmers. For these purposes, we allocate UAH7.3 milliard», the Prime Minister noted.
He emphasized the key areas of funding include support for the farmers movement (UAH 1milliard), as well as targeted support for livestock breeding. «Within 2018, our producers will have access to free loans for livestock sector. These are additional funds that will be directed for the construction of both new farms and dairy farms. We will do it in 2018,» the Head of Government stressed.
As to the report, Groisman also paid a particular attention to the assistance for agricultural engineering and the continuation of this year program of compensation for part of the cost of domestic technology. The Prime Minister noted that 500 companies had become participants of this program. «Next year, 1 milliard hryvnias will be allocated to this program. New jobs will be created in agricultural machinery construction sector, and we will provide farmers with modern technology,» he underlined.
