Poroshenko congratulated Malta on EU Council successful presidency completion

As of last week, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko sent a letter of gratitude and congratulations to President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca on the completion of successful presidency within the EU Council, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«Despite numerous challenges of the European project, we managed to achieve a historic landmark in the Ukraine-Europe partnership and enhance firm support of the EU for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in the face of the Russian armed aggression due to the active participation of Malta and our close practical interaction,» Poroshenko noted.
As to the report, Poroshenko thanked Malta for supporting the visa-free regime for Ukrainians, which became the embodiment of the will of the founding fathers of Europe, who sought to build bridges between peoples who profess the values of freedom, peace and democracy.
Besides, Poroshenko also admitted that another common story of success within the Malta presidency was the ratification of the Association Agreement, which is key for the enhancement of political association and economic integration between Ukraine and the EU.
As to the report, the Ukrainian President also conveyed congratulations to President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid on the beginning of Estonian presidency within the EU Council on Jul 1, 2017.
Poroshenko urged Estonia to reinforce the Ukraine-EU relations, facilitate reforms and support the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, including Crimea. «We count on your support in the future ambitious goals of Ukraine on the European track,» the President noted.
As to the report, Poroshenko is hopeful that Estonian presidency will promote the aspirations of the Ukrainian nation of becoming a full member of the European family, which in turn meets the aspirations of Estonia as the presiding state to preserve the openness of Europe.
