UNICEF seeking US$22 million to support Sudan children
30.06.2017 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Children continue to bear the brunt of multiple emergencies within Sudan, UN Radio says referring to the UN Childrens Fund (UNICEF) report.
As to the report, within the past few months, the country has recorded more than 16,000 cases of acute watery diarrhoea, resulting in 317 deaths, in addition to high rates of malnutrition.
Furthermore, an influx of refugees from neighbouring South Sudan has also boosted the burden on host communities within a country where more than 2.3 million are already displaced.
As to the report, the UNICEF is appealing for US$22 million to provide children with lifesaving water, health and other services.
