09.06.2017 17:26 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of today, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė in Kharkiv, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«I am confident that our strategic partnership with Lithuania has enormous potential and we are willing to fully implement this potential for Ukraine further promotion within the EU, for its return to the European family,» Poroshenko emphasized.
As to the report, Poroshenko admitted that the visit of the Lithuanian President to Ukraine takes place in historic times. As of this year Jun 11, Ukraine will get the visa-free regime and Ukrainian citizens will be able to travel to the European countries freely with biometric passports, Poroshenko said.
As to the report, the Ukrainian President noted that final procedures on ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement are currently being implemented. As to him, Ukrainians expected this process to take less time. However, there was a delay due to certain efforts of the country-aggressor that tried to wage its hybrid war and hoped that anti-European sentiment within the EU would try to block the Association Agreement.
As to him, Ukraine presently waits for the publication and formal decision of the EU Council that will complete the process of ratification.
In turn, President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė noted: «All these years after Maidan you’ve been doing a hard work, implementing hard reforms to get the FTA Agreement with the EU and the visa-free regime. Over the past years you’ve done much more than that of the previous 20 years».
She added that the first plane after the introduction of the visa-free regime would land in Lithuania. «We want to be the first to congratulate you. We always felt that we are your historic friends,» the President of Lithuania said adding that Lithuanians are happy to help Ukrainians, including in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian warriors.
«We will be glad to continue helping you,» the Lithuanian President emphasized.
