Ukraine, Belarus to enhance economic cooperation – meeting between two Presidents

As of today, within his working visit to the Republic of Belarus, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the Heads of State discussed a wide range of issues on bilateral cooperation.
Reportedly, Poroshenko noted that Ukraine and Belarus reached pretty good results in economic cooperation.
«Dynamics of growth of mutual trade turnover in 2016 demonstrates dramatic improvement of the economic situation in Ukraine. And dynamics of the first two months of this year is even more promising,» the Ukrainian President said at the joint press conference.
As to Poroshenko, we see benefits in our cooperation, inter alia, in mechanical engineering. «We agreed to give instructions to elaborate and sign the agreement on restoration of industrial cooperation between our enterprises. This particularly concerns agricultural machine building, automotive engineering, power engineering and increases the degree of localization of engineering products supplied to the Ukrainian market,» Petro Poroshenko informed.
As to the report, Poroshenko also informed that the agreement has been reached to expand the markets of the two countries for goods and services from Ukraine and Belarus. «We expect Belarusian companies to take part within tenders for road construction on the territory of Ukraine and Ukrainian builders are expected to take part in tenders for construction in Belarus,» Poroshenko said.
As to the report, within the negotiations a number of other important issues was also touched upon.
