FAO: Better data can help fight hunger, advance sustainable development

Better data can help within the fight against hunger and bring about sustainable development, the Food and Agriculture Organizations (FAO) Chief Statistician, Pietro Gennari, said on the margins of a meeting organized by the UN Statistical Commission (UNSD) as of last week Fri, UN Radio reports.
It is to be admitted, the UNSD sets international standards for statistics in order for countries to share data and compare experiences.
As to the report, the UNSD meeting adopted 230 global indicators to help track progress of the Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs.
Each global SDG indicator has been assigned a «custodian» UN agency. FAO is responsible for 21 of them.
