State Reserve to purchase 400,000 MT 2006 food grain

State Committee for Material Reserves (State Reserve) is going to acquire 400,000 MT 2006 crop food grain on tenders until yearend in order to renew/replenish grain State reserves, reported Yaroslav Boiko, State Reserve Material Storage Department Director, on press-conference. As to Boiko, Committee is going to purchase mainly 3/4 classes wheat, while 5 class wheat, buckwheat, rice and rye are planned to be purchased in minor volumes. Boiko specified 3/4 classes wheat will share 8090% total State Reserve grain purchases. He admitted State Reserve plans to purchase grain at prices set by Ministry of Agrarian Policy for 2006/07 (in part. 3 class wheat UAH700 per MT). As earlier reported, Committee planned to hold first 2006 crop food grain purchases tender on Jul 25/to acquire 50,000 MT food grain. As to Committee data, in 2005 it had bought 300,000 MT grain (from 450,000 MT stipulated by its 2005 reserves renewal/replenishment plan and despite being commissioned by Government to acquire 1 mn MT). In 2004 Committee had purchased 862,000 MT grain (from 500,000 MT stipulated by its 2004 reserves renewal/replenishment plan and despite Government commission to buy 1 mn MT). State Committee for Material Reserves performs purchases of food articles considered strategic.
