04.07.2006 13:41 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As to Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy, press-conference report, agricultural companies have harvested 88,320 MT new crop grain (as of Jun 29). «Results of total Ukrainian grains harvesting, including barley and winter wheat, are not much significant so far; as of now, grains are threshed just at 32,000 ha,» said Baranivskiy. Baranivskiy admitted this year grain average yield is 27,6 metric centners/ha (up against 22,0 metric centners/ha in 2005). Acting Minister made it known grain harvesting has already started in AR of the Crimea, Odessa region and Kherson region. As to Baranivskiy, AR of the Crimea grain average yield is 27,3 metric centners/ha (up against 22,0 metric centners/ha in 2005), Odessa region 30,3 metric centners/ha (up against 23,0 metric centners/ha in 2005), Kherson region 26,0 metric centners/ha (up against last year 21,7 metric centners/ha). «We hope weather conditions will allow us to complete harvesting in due time and, as it used to say, without losses,» said Baranivskiy. As earlier reported, Jun 27 AR of the Crimea agricultural companies had, first in Ukraine, started 2006 crop grain harvesting. As of Jun 1, 2006, Ukrainian agricultural companies had sown spring grains at 17,760 ha (of total 17,950 ha planned to be sown at for 2006 crop). As of Nov 25, 2005, agricultural companies had totally finished winter grains (2006 crop) sowing; winter grains were sown at 5.933 mn ha (of total planned 6.411 mn ha). Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts this year grain crop to be not below 38 mn MT.
