03.07.2006 10:00 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ministry of Agrarian Policy is convinced Ukrainian domestic market 2006/07 grain offer will total 4243 mn MT (2006 grain production/grain transitive remainders), reported Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy on press-conference. As to Baranivskiy, 2006/07 wheat offer will be 17 mn MT (taking into account transitive remainders). Acting Minister admitted Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects this year barley/maize crops will be up against 2005 (wheat down). Despite wheat (country main kind grain) expected crop lowering, Baranivskiy is certain domestic grain market situation will remain stable. Baranivskiy admitted he thinks wheat market prices are quite possible to grow, yet he refused to specify how high, in his opinion, prices may boost. As earlier reported, Ministry of Agrarian Policy considers 2006 grain output won’t be below 38 mn MT. Domestic market food grain annual requirement is estimated 6.57 mn MT.
