26.10.2016 12:31 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of today, while opening a Cabinet meeting, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman has said
the Government will initiate a twofold boost in the Ukrainian minimum wage up to UAH3,200, Government Portal reports.
«We offer that in 2017 the Ukrainian minimum wage amounts to UAH3,200. We will provide a twofold boost of the minimum wage in the country. This means that from 1 January, no citizen of Ukraine must get less than UAH3,200,» Groysman said when presenting the Government decision.
As to the report, the PM noted that this initiative had been previously discussed with the Ukrainian President, representatives of the coalition factions of the Parliament, within the Government, and a common decision found that enables making first steps to restore order and to change work evaluation system.
As to the report, Groisman stressed that labour of Ukrainian citizens was undervalued, and added it was crucial to create a system to properly assess the labour of Ukrainian citizens.
Reportedly, the PM reminded that the Government had recently adopted the consumer basket, which in 2017 would make up UAH3,200. Thus, for the first time in 25 years of independence, the minimum wage coincides with the real, actual and legal living wage.
