"Faint" voices of migrants "need to be heard more" in the UN
05.10.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The «faint» voices of migrants will be heard much more loudly «in UN circles» thanks to the inclusion of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Thats the hope and belief of the IOMs Director-General, William Lacy Swing, speaking shortly yesterday after the official ceremony at UN Headquarters in New York, welcoming the agency into the system, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, the decision was made by the UN General Assembly within this year Jul, and Mr. Swing said it was an historic day for «migrants and their families across the globe.»
It is to be admitted, within 2015, the IOM had provided help to around 20 million migrants.
