New UN appointments address youth unemployment, role in peace efforts
15.08.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of last week Fri, while speaking within an address at the University of Calgary in Canada, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the appointment of a Special Envoy on Youth Employment will bolster UN efforts to address persistently high levels of youth joblessness worldwide, UN Radio reports.
It is to be reminded, the new envoy is former Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann.
Besides, the UN Secretary-General also noted that his appointment comes as 73 million young people worldwide are out of work.
As to the report, Ban cited data from the International Labour Organization (ILO) which estimates that 475 million jobs will need to be created over the next decade to address this issue.
