Ban: Solar-powered plane pilots way to a more sustainable world

As of this week, The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was speaking within a video call with one of the pilots of the Solar Impulse, Dr Bertrand Piccard, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, Ban said the airplane that is circling the globe powered by clean technology and solar energy is piloting the journey to a sustainable world.
It is to be admitted, the Swiss explorer Dr Bertrand Piccard is a Goodwill Ambassador with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The video conversation was broadcast on Facebook live.
It is to be mentioned, the Solar Impulse was about the end of its whirlwind journey around the world and so the UN Chief spoke to Captain Piccard when the airplane was just hours away from its final destination, Abu Dhabi.
Mr. Ban described it as «a very historic day.»
«You may be ending your journey, but the journey to a sustainable world is just beginning. You are helping pilot us to that future through your vision, your determination, your courage, and your inspiration and also your great example. Now you have been flying more than 40,000 kilometres without fuel, but I know that you have much energy, much energy. Thank you for spreading this message of sustainability around the world!» Ban emphasized.
