26.07.2016 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of now, drylands are under threat because of climate change but restoring them could help cope with the effects of drought, desertification, UN Radio says referring to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report.
It is to be admitted, the FAO report has revealed for the first time the presence of trees, forests and land use in global drylands.
Reportedly, the desert, arid or semi-arid regions are home to 2 milliard people on Earth and are major contributors to the world breadbasket.
Trees protect soils, crops and animals from the sun and winds, while forests are often rich in biodiversity.
