Ban: History made as 175 sign UN climate deal
25.04.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
History has been made as 175 countries sign a UN climate deal in New York on the last week Fri, UN Radio reports referring to the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
As to the report, on the last week Fri, fifteen countries have also ratified the Paris Agreement formally adopted last year Dec.
Reportedly, for the accord to come into effect, 55 countries that account for at least 55% of greenhouse gas emissions need to approve and ratify it at the national level.
It would move forward quickly, the UN chief hinted, if the United States and China also ratified or joined, since these two countries together emit 40% of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions.
