23 regions May beef prices down 0.5-12.8%, to UAH14,23-22,92 per kg

May beef (cattle) prices have fallen by 0.512.8% (down to UAH14,2322,92 per kg) on 23 regions markets and simultaneously grown by 0.50.6% (up to UAH20,1821,0 per kg) on 2 regions markets against Apr, reported Ministry of Economics. As to Ministry of Economics, May maximal (UAH22,92 per kg) and minimal (UAH14,23 per kg) beef prices have been registered correspondingly on c. Sevastopol and AR of the Crimea markets. As to report, within May beef (cattle) prices have declined by 0.25% (down to UAH16,6424,2 per kg) against Apr in shops of 10 regions; simultaneously, May beef prices have risen by 0.47.7% (up to UAH20,9823,9 per kg) as of Apr in 4 regions shops. As to Ministry of Economics, May highest (UAH24,4 per kg) and lowest (UAH16,64 per kg) beef prices have been registered correspondingly in Zhytomyr region and Myckolayiv region shops. As of monitoring date, beef was missing in Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovograd, Chernighiv, Sumy, Khmelnystkiy and Lugansk regions shops. As earlier reported, 2006 first quarter meet processing integrated plants cattle purchase prices were down. 2006 first quarter producers beef sale prices were as well down: bull half-carcasses to UAH13,013,4 per kg (cow half-carcasses to UAH12,412,7 per kg); block beef to UAH19,4 per kg. Presently Ukrainian frozen beef production is declining due to export sales market absence (plants which are not supplied with meet storage refrigerators have fully stopped beef output). Country domestic frozen beef market competition has much toughened. Within 2006 first quarter, domestic market average frozen beef sale prices have lowered by 1.3% (UAH0.28 per kg), down to UAH20,96 per kg.
