As of today, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed laws necessary for the establishment of the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the laws had been earlier adopted by the Ukrainian Parliament (as of this year Feb 18). The main purpose of the laws is to ensure the fulfillment of anti-corruption criteria necessary for the abolition of the visa regime with the EU, particularly seizure of property and procedures of the institute of special confiscation, the activity of the National Agency of Ukraine for Detection, Search and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes, as well as the functioning of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
In meanwhile, consultations on the law on electronic declarations are being continued with the European Commission in order to elaborate possible amendments. The President believes these amendments would meet the best European practice.
As to the report, Poroshenko urges to immediately appoint the staff of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption and assure its proper functioning.
