Ukrainian President urges Cabinet, Prosecutor General’s Office and National Anti-Corruption Bureau not to delay struggle against corruption

As of today, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has addressed the Prime Minister, the Prosecutor General and the NABU Director with a letter in which he emphasized the inadmissibility of inefficient prevention of corruption and highlighted the necessity of bringing the identified corrupt officials to justice, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the letter says that high-level executives Head of the State Employment Service Yaroslav Kashuba and Deputy Director of the State Expertise Department of the State Export Control Service of Ukraine Serghiy Golovatiy were detained by the officials of the Ukrainian Security Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office while taking bribes.
Reportedly, the letter admits it was also revealed that Head of the State Export Control Service Yuriy Tereshchenko was involved in corruption in the course of the search of his residence, officials found part of the money given to S. Golovatiy in the form of a bribe earlier. However, the detained executives were released up to the court decisions and are now returning to their posts.
«I consider such inaction of the law enforcement bodies and the Government totally unacceptable. Officials reasonably accused of corruption must be dismissed or at least suspended from duty for the time of the investigation and trial. I expect effective reaction to the abovementioned facts,» the letter reads.
It is to be reminded, earlier, within the meeting of the Council of Regional Development, the President had underlined the importance to form the atmosphere of zero tolerance to corruption.
«Real struggle against corruption needs significant aid despite the fact that we still have problems in the judicial system and the Parliament hasn’t voted for the laws that would have finally terminated the release of corrupt officials on bail. We must struggle for the trust of people,» Poroshenko noted.
