Agrarian Minister says Ukraine tackles swine fever

As of today, while speaking at the ministerial roundtable, Oleksiy Pavlenko, the Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, said Ukraine had overcome the epidemic of an extremely dangerous viral animal diseases - African Swine Fever (ASF) - which hit Ukraine with 40 outbreaks in 2015 and so lead to the forced extermination of infected animals and those potentially exposed to infection, UNIAN reports.
«Last year we broke the African swine I want to thank the Service [the Ukrainian State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service] because we have gone through some very difficult times. Now I looked through the latest report: more than a half of the outbreaks was dealt with,» the Minister said.
Pavlenko also noted that Ukraine is ahead of the neighboring countries - Russia, Belarus and Poland - in fighting the epidemic.
