Ukrainian, Latvian Presidents agreed to broaden cooperation between two countries

As of today, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis held negotiations Kyiv, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, following the negotiations in Kyiv, Poroshenko and Vējonis declared plans to broaden relations between the two countries for the further European integration of Ukraine.
Reportedly, Raimonds Vējonis admitted Europe is interested in a strong and stable Ukraine.
In turn, Petro Poroshenko called it symbolic that one of the first official visits of the Latvian President was the visit to Ukraine.
«We are grateful to Latvia for a very powerful support in difficult times when Ukraine faces Russian aggression and annexation of Crimea,» the President said.
The Ukrainian President noted efficient interaction of the two countries in the UN and other international organizations.
As to the report, the Presidents discussed cooperation in the implementation of reforms in Ukraine. Poroshenko thanked his colleague for supporting Ukrainian reforms and European aspirations of Ukraine, as well as for the EU’s provision of visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens starting from Jan 1, 2016.
In his turn, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis noted that the result of today’s negotiations would be the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia.
Raimonds Vējonis supported the European aspirations of Ukraine.
«I am sure that Ukraine is interested in Latvia and Latvia is interested in Ukraine. We want the two countries to be economically independent and have solid national borders. It is important not only for us, but also for the entire Europe. Europe is interested in strong Ukraine and wants the situation to remain stable both in Ukraine and the Baltic States,» the Latvian President said.
Also, Vējonis emphasized that Latvia praised recent achievements of Ukraine in the issue of reforms. «We should preserve unity and solidarity in the process of reformation of Ukraine,» he said.
