UN: World faces crisis of migration governance

As of now, the world faces a crisis over the way it has managed migration,
UN Radio says referring to the UN General Assembly, High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Raad Al Hussein annual report presented to the UN.
As to the report, within the last year humanitarian emergencies and conflict across the world have led to the worst displacement since the Second World War. Besides, within this year over 650,000 people have fled to Europe to escape conflict and insecurity in their home country.
Theyve come from Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea, Iraq and many other places.
«The turmoil and crises that the international community faces clearly demonstrate the disasters that may occur when human rights are neglected and ground down,» Zeid admitted.
And he added that the record number of people who are migrating requires action.
«We face a crisis of migration governance globally, and in several regions. More effective approaches, grounded in the human rights of the people concerned, are urgently needed,» he stressed.
As to the report, Zeid also said that the work of his office in defense of human rights had had a significant impact on the lives of millions of individuals worldwide.
