Poroshenko urged Parliament to cancel bail in corruption cases

As of today, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with heads of coalition factions in order to discuss a series of important draft laws that will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada in the nearest time, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the Head of State stressed that the meeting was held at the initiative of faction leaders and that he is always open for conversation.
As to the report, the President emphasized the importance of the draft law on raising of the social standards and budgetary amendments adopted at the session of the Government.
The President noted that the given document also provides for the increase of funding of national security and the AFU.
«Please, endorse this draft law in the Parliament. Every single day is important for us,» Petro Poroshenko said. He noted that in conditions of ceasefire, there is an opportunity to increase the number of contract soldiers in the army.
The President also called for compromise within the coalition regarding his bill on abolition or significant increase in the minimum sum of bail in corruption cases. He noted that recently the police in cooperation with the Security Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office detained several senior officials. The President called it a good sign but warned about the possibility of judicial decisions to release the detainees on bail. «I believe that we urgently need unity of coalition in this issue,» the President emphasized.
