Poroshenko expects extraordinary parliamentary session to consider draft constitutional amendments on decentralization
20.08.2015 20:43 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is hopeful that Verkhovna Rada will not delay the consideration of the constitutional amendments on decentralization and endorse them at the extraordinary session, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«I think that the extraordinary session will first of all be focused on the decentralization reform conveying powers to the territorial communities and shortening the gap between people and authorities,» the President told.
As to the report, the Head of State is hopeful that parliamentarians will soon agree upon the date of the extraordinary plenary session.
Reportedly, Poroshenko noted that the Parliament has enough votes for the adoption of the given constitutional amendments. He is grateful to parliamentarians for their support.
As to the report, the President is hopeful that the Constitutional Commission will complete and approve constitutional amendments on justice. He also expressed hope that the Parliament will endorse these amendments. «This is what people demand and what is the most topical in reformation. The right to a fair trial is a key element of human rights protection, improvement of investment climate and ensuring the rule of law,» the Head of State emphasized.
Reportedly, the President also noted that the abolition of parliamentary and judicial immunity is another important issue for the Parliament.
