Abromavicius believes that benefits from State-owned companies must be received by Ukrainian citizens

Ukraine has established a Supervisory Board for reform of State-owned companies that will monitor the progress and quality of reform, will provide advice on strategic issues and will promote ideas of reform, not only in Ukraine but also in the globe, Government Portal says referring to the Ukrainian
Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius report at a briefing at the Government House on Jun 12.
«The Supervisory Board will not be engaged in direct implementation of reforms, but will operate closely with me and the task team of experts, created within the Ministry of Economic Development, Aivaras Abromavicius underlined. The Board includes leading experts in the field of public administration and reform, experts of international financial institutions, capital markets, direct investment, private sector. They are familiar with Ukraine, with the challenges facing the country, and are anxious to work for success of the reform of State-owned companies,» the Minister added.
It is to be admitted, the Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili has agreed to lead the Board. Saakashvili has a wide reform experience.
«Ukraine has a terrific potential: industrial, technological, human, which is incorporated in the State companies. We have to provide high salaries, to attract the best managers around the world, of course, Ukrainians will be better, who will effectively manage for the Ukraine’s benefit,» Saakashvili stressed.
As to the report, Abromavicius admitted the Board will meet once a month in order to monitor the progress of reforms, to discuss new initiatives and issues being operated by the task team within the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
«Ukraine has to boldly reform the management system of State assets. It is important to introduce the most advanced practices to enable shareholders of State-owned companies, i.e. the citizens of Ukraine, to receive profits,» Abromavicius emphasized.
