Kyiv, Brussels sign memorandum on granting EUR1.8 milliard in aid to Ukraine

The European Commission and the Ukrainian government have signed a memorandum of understanding on the provision of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine worth EUR1.8 milliard, UNIAN reports.
As to the report, the signing ceremony took place on Fri during the fourth Eastern Partnership summit, held in Riga.
Reportedly, the document was signed by Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalia Jaresko, NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva and European Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis.
The signing took place in the presence of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
As to earlier report, the European Commission had proposed to provide Ukraine with a new macro-financial assistance on Jan 8, 2015. After a positive vote in the European Parliament that took place on Mar 25, on Apr 15 the corresponding decision was signed by European Parliament President Martin Schulz and the Secretary of State for European Affairs of the Latvian Parliament Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica.
As to the report, Ukraine will receive the first tranche of EUR600 million at the beginning of the summer.
