29.04.2015 10:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
At the Government’s meeting on Wed, Apr 29, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk told that by 12:45 a forest fire in the exclusion zone had been localized, with the radiation level being safe, Government Portal reports.
«Given that acceptable norms equal 50 micro-roentgens per hour, in the alienation zone the background radiation does not exceed 21, and in Kyiv does not exceed 11», the Head of Government stressed.
«We brought out necessary equipment. And due to the fact that yesterday the personnel of the State Emergency Service promptly and responsibly used planes and helicopters, as well as considerable amount of fire -fighting equipment and people, the fire has been localized and the situation has stabilized,» Yatseniuk admitted.
He reminded that the previous day he had inspected the process of the fire liquidation: «We flew all over the area covered by the fire.»
Also, Yatseniuk asked the Acting Chairman of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service Zorian Shkiriak to send him an aerial video of firefighting.
Besides, the Prime Minister also ordered to measure radiation level publicly, «to confirm that the situation is under control, completely safe, and poses no threat to life and health of citizens, even those who are working directly in the area to extinguish the fire».
