24.11.2014 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The outbreak of the deadly Ebola disease in West Africa should be «restrickted» and could end by the middle of 2015, UN Radio says referring to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon report.
As to report, almost 5500 people have died after catching the virus, mainly in Guinea Liberia and Sierra Leone.
It is to be admitted, the United Nations has set up a special health mission UNMEER to fight the disease in the region.
In meanwhile, the UN Chief says progress has been made.
«There has been some welcome progress. Where the Ebola response strategy is implemented, the rate of new cases appear appears to be slowing. We are seeing the curve bending in enough places to give us hope. If we continue to accelerate our response, we can contain and end the outbreak by the middle of next year,» Ban Ki-moon stresses.
Besides, Mr. Ban also says in Mali (where recently six people have died after contracting E bola) an UNMEER support mission has been established.
