The Ukrainian Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in cooperation with the Ukrainian State Environmental Investment Agency did everything possible to ensure that not a single copick of Kyoto funds was spent on dubious schemes, Government Portal says referring to the
Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Andriy Mokhnyk at a briefing at the Government House on Friday, November 7.
«Since I became the head of the Ministry, and the Chairman of the Environmental Investment Agency came in office, there have been spent UAH 295 mln for the modernization of the Kiev subway cars and UAH 86 million for the modern Toyota Prius cars with hybrid propulsion systems for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. These are two large projects of the six that were implemented in the framework of the Kyoto Protocol. No extra copick was transferred on accounts of doubtful or any other companies», said the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources.
As to him, in order to understand the «complicated situation» with Kyoto funds the Ministry needed about a month, after the new administrative staff had been appointed. Into this process engaged representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Fiscal and Tax Services, General Prosecutors office, Audit Department.
«By joining efforts, we managed from that plan which was developed during the reign of Yanukovych to remain only two major projects modernization of the Kiev subway cars and hybrid vehicles for the Ministry of the Interior. No other topics were developed,» Mokhnyk said.
