ICT organizations unite in fight against Ebola

Three major organizations dealing with information and communication technologies are joining forces to fight against the Ebola outbreak in West Africa following an announcement made at a telecoms meeting taking place in Busan, South Korea, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will join forces with the Internet Society (ISOC), as well as with the GSMA, an association of mobile operators and related companies.
The three organizations will utilize their global networks to increase the effective use of technology for better preparedness, early warning and response to Ebola.
Reportedly, the ITU has already deployed satellite terminals to support ongoing efforts against the disease and is currently developing new applications in close cooperation and coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The GSMA has led in coordinating and standardizing the response of mobile operators in affected countries, and has collaborated with the WHO to develop what is called the «Ebola Mobile Response Blueprint».
It is to be admitted, the ISOC had set up the Ebola TECH Response Group to harness the expertise of its extensive tech community around the world to help the emergency response.
