As of yesterday, within his working visit to Odesa region, the Ukrainian President had a meeting with heads of law enforcement bodies on the struggle against smuggling and corruption at the customs, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the Head of State noted that he would put an end to corruption schemes at the customs and make everything to simplify the import of goods in Ukraine.
Reportedly, the President emphasized that he was strongly disappointed with customs registration of cargoes and level of countering smuggling and corruption in the law enforcement bodies. «I am strongly disappointed with the situation on countering smuggling in the south of the country. Only 20% of cargoes get customs clearance in Odesa. The rest of them get customs clearance in other regions where the procedure is easier,» Petro Poroshenko said.
The Head of State informed that under his instruction examination of sales outlets in one of the most famous markets of Odesa had been held. According to the President, none of the 11 outlets passed the examination for customs clearance, although the range of goods was wide.
