09.10.2014 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Universal Postal Union (UPU) remains committed to delivering mail to countries affected by the Ebola virus disease, UN Radio says quoting the Director General of UPU Bishar Hussein as speaking in Geneva ahead of World Post Day (celebrated every 9 October).
It is to be admitted, the purpose of the international day is to raise awareness about the role of the postal sector in the lives of people and businesses.
Due to growing concerns regarding the spread of the Ebola virus, Mr Hussein clarified that UPU is still serving all regions.
«Our mail services are transported by the airlines, so as long as the airlines are going there then we continue dealing with those countries. We have not had any serious problems as far as Ebola is concerned, particularly with our mail delivery network systems, and unless we get any further United Nations instructions, well continue to do business with those countries,» Mr. Hussein admitted.
Besides, in his message on World Post Day, Mr. Hussein also highlighted that the focus this year is on how posts can impact the changing communication landscape, due to their ability to connect people.
