Ministry of Economics considers grain export licensing introduction premature

Having analyzed domestic grain/processed products market situation and examined grain exporters arguments, Ministry of Economics has come to conclusion wheat/rye export licensing establishing would be premature, reported Ministry of Economics press-service referring to Ministry meeting results.
As to report, meeting participants have come to conclusion domestic market grain resources are quite sufficient.
As earlier reported, Ministry of Economics had proposed Cabinet to establish wheat/rye export licensing in order to prevent Ukrainian food security threat.
Proposed project stipulated introduction of export operations licensing system for
wheat (except seed wheat), mesline (wheat/rye mixture) and rye (TN VED codes: 1001 10 00 90,
1001 90 99 00, 1002 00 00 00).
As of Mar 1, domestic companies specializing in grain storage/processing had 2.823.806t wheat/341.579t rye.
Domestic market food wheat annual requirement is estimated 5 million tons (" 400.000t monthly).
