UN willing to enlarge cooperation in humanitarian area with Ukraine

The enlargement of cooperation between Ukraine and the United Nations in the humanitarian area was discussed during the today meeting between the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Volodymyr Groisman and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos, Government Portal reports.
As to report, Valerie Amos noted the high level of openness and willingness to cooperate on the part of Ukrainian authorities, which makes it possible to identify the needs in which Ukraine requires assistance.
The parties discussed opportunities to increase expert assistance, in particular to send representatives of the United Nations to work in the Eastern regions of Ukraine and in the regional headquarters for the social protection of citizens who are forced move from ATO area.
Reportedly, the participants also considered issues of technical assistance to ensure a system of registration of internally displaced persons.
Besides, in connection with growing consequences of military aggression against Ukraine, Volodymyr Groisman and Valerie Amos also discussed the necessity to adjust the previous UN Response Plan with the current humanitarian situation in Ukraine. As to the document, the UN thinks it necessary to direct about US$33 million for the immediate Ukrainian needs by the yearend.
