Ban: Time for new era of collaboration, cooperation and action from world body

World leaders have been urged to address emerging crises before they become bigger and costlier for all.
The call was made yesterday by the UN Secretary-General on Thursday during the Security Councils open debate on conflict prevention, UN Radio reports.
He said with the surge of violent crises around the world, the United Nations needs to re-examine and refine its approach to preventing conflicts.
One of his core priorities as Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon underscored, is to improve the organizations ability to act early and act preventively.

The most important challenge for now, the UN chief noted, is to improve the Councils ability to reach a stronger and earlier consensus.
