Ukrainian government approves draft law on sanctions against Russia

While speaking after a government meeting on last week Friday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said the Ukrainian Cabinet had approved a draft law on sanctions against Russia, NRCU reports referring to Ukrinform.
«The Ukrainian Cabinet has approved a draft law on sanctions, and this is for the first time in Ukraines history when we as a nation impose sanctions on foreign entities that committed crimes against our country and our citizens,» he said.
Yatseniuk admitted that the draft law stipulates possibility of introducing 26 types of sanctions against individuals and entities. In particular, the issue concerns asset freezes, bans on running business in Ukraine, bans on the use of frequencies, the Internet and other means of communication. There is also a possibility of a ban on participation in the privatization of state property facilities, on the use of licenses, as well as a full or partial ban on the transit of all resources. There will also be special economic sanctions such as licensing and bans on financial operations, as well as ordinary sanctions such as bans on entry and movements. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Verkhovna Rad, Ukraines parliament, would approve this draft law on Tuesday, August 12.
