The Head of State suggests allocating money saved from the second round of the presidential elections to the funding of the urgent needs of servicemen
11.06.2014 10:43 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to allocate money saved from the second round of the presidential elections to the urgent needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and servicemen-participants of the counterterrorist operation, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
Given the fact that the elections were held without the need for re-vote, budget savings equaled more than UAH 600 million. In this view, Petro Poroshenko offers the Government to allocate the given money to the funding of servicemen. Particularly, to the improvement of armament, provision of means of protection, necessary equipment etc. «I suggest elaborating and submitting in due order for the consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a draft law on the amendments to the State Budget of Ukraine for the current year in the context of allocating the unused funds, aimed at holding the early presidential elections, to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,» the document reads.
«Allocation of respective resources to the funding of needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, particularly provision of necessary material resources and social protection of servicemen, will allow the Ministry of Defense to solve a number of topical issues,» the President emphasized.
