No climate change strategy means trouble, says UN chief
06.05.2014 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Any government or major business that doesn’t have a climate strategy is in trouble, UN Radio says referring to the Secretary-General of the United Nations’ statement.
Ban Ki-moon wrapped up a two-day meeting on climate change that he co-hosted with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government in Abu Dhabi on Monday, reminding world leaders that «change is in the air».
He said business opportunities of the low-carbon economy are great, and urged all to raise the level of ambition.
During the meeting, named the «Abu Dhabi Ascent» after the host city, thousands of participants discussed new solutions for reducing greenhouse gases and strengthening climate resilience.
Ban Ki-moon highlighted the importance of empowering and motivating national leaders to bring bold announcements to the next climate summit in September in New York.
He said that is how the world will make progress at the climate talks in Peru this year, in order to have a meaningful agreement by 2015.
