Storage life of cheeses expires in producers warehouses
28.02.2006 13:59 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Storable life of cheeses accumulated at
Ukrainian cheese producers warehouses is coming to end (cheeses average storable life is 3 months), reported Agrarika Ltd referring to domestic cheese making companies.
Cheese makers don’t disclose precise data on amount cheeses remainders stored at their warehouses, just declaring remainders are rather big due to significant sales difficulties lasting since last year autumn.
As to experts, cheeses remainders exceed 15.000t.
Experts admit cheese producers are quite probable to suffer additional losses due to ready products remainders (with storage period about to finish) are presently impossible to be sold.
Though accumulated cheeses may partially be reprocessed into processed cheeses, yet even this solution presently won’t be much effective due to processed cheeses market excessive offer, say experts.
As to State Statistics Committee, Ukrainian 2005 cheeses output totaled 271.000t, up 21.7% against 2004 (with fresh/fermented cheeses output totaling 82.100t, up 16.4% as of 2004).
As earlier reported, last week Rosselhoznadzor (RF Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision) 6 experts started inspecting Ukrainian cheese companies, ports
as well as Veterinary Medicine State Department.
Experts are going to end inspection until Mar 1.
Jan 20 RF banned Ukrainian animal products import.
