Yatseniuk: We have received a very clear message that the EU and US will do everything to support Ukrainian people and preserve Ukraine

"The western world is determined to preserve the integrity and independence of Ukraine," the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed in his statement during the Atlantic Council in Washington in the course of his working visit to the USA on Wednesday, March 12, Government Portal reports.
«We appreciate the support the American people, the President and the US Government that you demonstrated to the Ukrainian people,» Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed.
According to the Prime Minister, it is extremely important that the European Union and the USA are speaking with one voice: «We have got a very clear statement of the EU and the USA saying that they will do whatever they can to support the Ukrainian people and actually to protect Ukraine».
«I am satisfied with the way the USA and the EU helps us to handle the crisis,» Arsenii Yatseniuk added.
Moreover, he reminded that Ukraine had received a package of financial aid from our western partners: «It is on the table. We have to accomplish the IMF deal, however we have already obtained USD 1 billion in guarantees for stabilization of the Ukrainian economy».
The Head of the Government emphasized that Ukraine was experiencing dramatic times: «What is going on was absolutely unexpected for me and unacceptable for the world. With no reason, our partner in the past, and I still believe this country would become our partner in the future, started an incursion into the Ukrainian territory, started to invade an independent and sovereign country».
«We still believe that the reason option to tackle this military crisis with the political and diplomatic tools. As time is going, the clock is ticking, the chances are not as big, as for example they were last week. But these options, these tools are still on the table,» he emphasized.
According to Arsenii Yatseniuk, the first scenario of the RF President Volodymyr Putin is «to conquer Crimea in this or that way»: «But he can go further. Russia has another scenario as well — how to conquer the whole Ukraine, including the Ukrainian capital. It depends on his [President Putin] personal goals».
«Several years ago the President Putin said the largest catastrophe of the previous century was collapse of the Soviet Union. I would say the largest catastrophe of this century would be restoring of the Soviet Union,» Arsenii Yatseniuk summed up.
