Ministry of Agrarian Policy commissioned Artemsil to boost Russian salt shipments 2 times
20.02.2006 10:00 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Minister of Agrarian Policy, has charged Serghiy Pyrin, State-owned Company Association Artemsil General Director, to raise twice, up to 35 railway cars/day, salt shipments to RF, reported Ministry of Agrarian Policy press-service.
As to press-service, presently Artemsil is shipping daily 1617 railway cars salt to Russia. Baranivskiy has addressed Transport Ministry asking to allocate additional railway cars necessary for Russian salt grown shipments.
As to report, RF population has recently started to buy each day country salt monthly consumption volume, with salt price having boosted up to RUB50/kg.
As earlier reported, RF salt domestic market annual capacity is 3.6 million tons (with only 0.87 million tons being shipped annually from Ukraine); RF domestic salt yearly output totals 2.72.8 million tons (with practically all produced salt being domestically consumed).
RF salt export is estimated in minimal volumes which don’t make any effect on RF market, what is one more prove of present anxiety as for country salt provision being absolutely unmotivated.
Besides, experts admit Ukrainian salt shipments shortages (if any) are always possible to be compensated by supplies from other countries (in part. Byelorussia/Kazakhstan).
It is to be reminded, due to rush demand in a number of RF regions population has bought out monthly salt reserves within just a few days resulting in RF salt prices having jumped up to RUB4050/package (900 gr), up against earlier RUB4.55.5/package.
Meanwhile, regional authorities/suppliers affirm there is enough salt on regions warehouses and summon population not to succumb to panic.
