Ukrainian Foreign Minister: November best time for signing Association Agreement with the EU
01.11.2013 14:42 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara believes that November is the best time for signing the Association Agreement with the European Union, considering the election to the European Parliament and the change of the European Commission’s membership next year and the presidential election in Ukraine in 2015.
«Ukraine has demonstrated significant progress in implementing the agreements approved at the EU-Ukraine Summit in February. I am sure that we will pace up during the month remaining until the Eastern Partnership summit,» NRCU referring to Kozhara’s interview with the government’s daily Uriadoviy Kurier published on Friday. Commenting on the sensitive issue of expensive natural gas imports from Russia, he said that Ukraine would buy more gas on the European market if the gas talks with Moscow brought no compromise solution. «Ukraine’s energy policy is directed at diversification of natural gas supplies. We are already buying gas on the European market at lower prices than those charged by Russia’s gas monopoly Gazprom, and we are planning to increase the purchases if we don’t reach a compromise with our Russian partners,» Kozhara said.
