Ukrainian Parliament proposed to ban advertising of alcohol and tobacco products

During the meeting the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration approved the draft law «On amendments to Article 22 of the law of Ukraine on advertising»(regarding the prohibition of alcohol, low-alcohol beverages, beer, tobacco products and brands)", ForUm correspondent reports.
The bill proposes to prohibit the advertising of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and brands, as well as beer on the territory of Ukraine. It also proposes to prohibit sponsorship of television programs, public events, including sports, using the trademark, symbolism of a manufacturer or a product.
Presenting the draft law at the committee’s meeting, MP Oleksiy Kaida noticed that Ukraine takes one of the leading places of child alcoholism level in Europe.
As a result, the Committee for European Integration decided to recommend the Parliament to pass the bill in the first reading, but on condition that the author declares about the withdrawal of dry wines from the ban list while preparing the document for the second reading.
