EU Trade Commissioner: no threat to Ukraine's economy from FTA with EU

There’s no threat from the introduction of a deep and comprehensive free trade area with the EU for Ukrainian small and medium businesses and the economy as a whole, said European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht on the air of one of Ukrainian TV channels, NRCU reports.
According to him, nothing jeopardizes Ukrainian economy. On the contrary, «if we open our market to you, this means there will be the market with the rule of law, there will be legal certainty for small and medium-sized businesses that want to export and be active abroad. Legal framework is important for small and medium entrepreneurs to protect their rights,» the Commissioner said. In particular, he noted that according to the free trade agreement, Ukraine will be able to annually export 300 thousand tons of grain to the European market.
