President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych instructed to ensure affordability of fruits and vegetables for Ukrainians. This topic was discussed at the meeting between the President and Kherson RSA Head Mykola Kostyak in Crimea, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«The President clearly determined the way fruits and vegetables will be sold and whether the price for them will be affordable for our people,» Kherson RSA Head said after the meeting with the President in Crimea.
According to him, Kherson region produces more than 2 million tons of fruits and vegetables through drip irrigation.
Moreover, Mykola Kostyak reported to the Head of State on completion of harvesting early grain crops in the region. «Last year, we harvested only a bit more than 1 million tons of grain. This year, due to progressive technologies, we have already harvested more than 1 million tons of early grain crops,» he said. Kherson RSA Head stressed that 90% of this year’s crop was bread grain.
In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed fire protection measures during harvesting. Mykola Kostyak told about the last year’s fires that had occurred due to the torrid summer. «There was a big fire in Kherson region. When I saw that we will not handle it I addressed the President who gave instructions to the Ministry of Emergencies, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defense. We eliminated the fire jointly,» he said.
«The Head of State keeps abreast. I feel it,» Mykola Kostyak noted.
