Vladimir Putin calls on bankers to discuss interest rates
27.05.2013 10:12 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Commercial banks that raised interest rates for credits are increasing risks in the Russian economy, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with businessmen in Voronezh within last week. Putin reminded that such risks exist in the European Union, Voice of Russia reports referring to ITAR-TASS.
The President called for wider application of the state guarantee. This might provide a positive effect, while its application should not be complicated with excessive paperwork, Vladimir Putin said.
He emphasized that he would oppose establishing artificial control over the development of the banking sector, but a control on reliability of banks would be crucial.
Vladimir Putin proposed to discuss the banking sector policy, especially interest rates for credits at a special meeting with the heads of the Central Bank and the heads of major banks.
