PM: Belarus-Lithuania Economic Forum can turn into a pan-European event
30.04.2013 16:42 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Belarus-Lithuania Economic Forum might turn into a pan-European event, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said in an exclusive interview with the Litovsky Kurier weekly, Belarus Radio reports.
The interview was given during the 9th Belarus-Lithuania Economic Forum that was held in Klaipeda on 1819 April. The heads of government of Belarus and Lithuania discussed ways to expand the framework of the forum and turn it into a comprehensive investment project."We have already discussed the matter with Prime Minister of Lithuania, Mr Algirdas Butkevicius. An initiative was put forward to turn the Belarus-Lithuania Economic Forum into a pan-European event featuring the European Union on the one hand and the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia on the other. I think that this idea can translate into a very interesting project that might flesh out when the Lithuanian Premier, Mr Butkevicius, will pay a visit to Minsk," Mikhail Myasnikovich said. He noted that the scale of Belarus-Lithuania relations is overgrowing the existing format of the bilateral relations. «We objectively need multilateral relations, an access to the markets of other states. It is a good idea, we welcome it and need to give it a boost,» the Premier said.
