President emphasizes importance of activation of Ukrainian-Russian cooperation

The President emphasized the importance of activation of Ukrainian-Russian cooperation, particularly in high-tech sphere. It was stated by President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych at the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, we must enhance cooperation in the sphere of atomic energy, particularly in the building of the 3rd and the 4th energy units of Khmelnytska atomic power plant. «We must make a common decision in order to accelerate construction of these two energy units,» the President said.
The Head of State also added that the issue of plane construction, particularly acceleration of joint projects of building An-70 and An-124, was another important issue of bilateral cooperation.
The President emphasized that Ukrainian party was ready to hold the Third interregional economic forum in Nizhny Novgorod. «We are ready to the forum for 90%, there are some finishing touches left,» Viktor Yanukovych noted adding that interregional cooperation between the countries was developing pretty successfully.
Particular attention was drawn to economic integration and cooperation with the Customs Union.
The President also noted the importance of gas issue. «Our experts have reached a significant progress in that sphere. Probably, it is time to sum up the results of negotiations… I think we must advance in this issue,» Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President of Russia stressed that Ukraine and Russia maintained relations at all levels. «We’ve got some good projects, particularly in high-tech, space sphere and plane construction. We are developing relations in atomic energy sphere,» Vladimir Putin said.
«I am glad to see you and to have an opportunity to exchange opinions regarding the inhibiting factors of our relations,» Russian President added.
