04.03.2013 09:16 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
"We consider the rise in gas prices for our people for the sake of implementation of IMF conditions to be unacceptable! We substantiate this, " Ukrainian Prime Minister said during the broadcast of a TV talk show «Shuster Live», Mykola Azarov Official Website reports.
According to Mykola Azarov, the main argument is that Ukraine will be able to come to an agreement with the Russian Federation as to reduce the cost of natural gas.
"On Monday, our President will once again meet with the leaders of the Russian Federation and the negotiations will be continued Prime Minister said. It is possible to criticize it or to philosophize on this. But this year, we have to obtain a review of this contract. I think that Russia as well does not have any doubts that it is necessary to do it. "
However, he said that after the gas price is agreed, the Ukrainian Government would sit down at the negotiating table with the IMF and the conditions of credit accommodation from the Fund would be reviewed.
Mykola Azarov also reminded that Ukraines cooperation with the foreign exchange reserve had lasted from 1994. During this time, our state did not interrupt contact with the IMF.
"In 2008 and 2009, more than 12 billion dollars out of the 16 were provided to our country. The previous government signed as well the conditions of credit accommodation. They included the retirement age and the increase of utility tariffs. That is, we received a ready-made programme not liable to variation, Prime Minister stated. And in this situation, we have started the negotiation process, as a result of which we were able to agree on amendments to the programme. Due to this we received the remaining portion of the loan without a condition to raise gas prices for the population. "
