President: There is a need for qualitatively new role of state in economic management

04.09.2013 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — The Head of State emphasized the necessity of improving the quality of state role in economic management. It was stated by him in the course of his yesterday speech at the opening of the third session of the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports. «I would like to stress: the task of the government in market economy does not ends with tax collection and redistribution of funds. It is necessary to provide conditions for business development, create a favorable investment climate, introduce financial instruments of growth,» Viktor Yanukovych said adding that the given actions were to be implemented at the regional level as well. The President also urged the Parliament and the Government to implement the strategy of import substitution and help Ukrainian exporters enter the new markets. «I urge the Verkhovna Rada and the Government to implement the strategy of import substitution. Moreover, the accent should be made not at the increase of customs rate, but at the strengthening of stimuli for national producers,» he said. The Head of State instructed the Government to expand the component of strategic planning in the economy in order to predict economic threats and prepare to their neutralization in advance.
