National team of Spain won U16 European Championship in Kyiv

"The tournament, which was held in Kyiv, lit new world stars. I congratulate the winners and thank all participants and spectators of the competition for the creation of bright sport event of European scale. Kyiv showed a high level of competition, which was, according to the leaderships of the FIBA Europe, the best championship in the history of such events. We have taken another step toward holding in Ukraine of finals of the Eurobasket 2015," vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Vilkul said, Government Portal reports.
Five players from different teams received the award «Best Team of the Tournament»: № 4 of Serbian team Stefan Peno, № 10 of national team of Ukraine Sviatoslav Mykhailyuk, № 6 of Spain team Javier Lopez Arosteho, № 7 of Serbian team Milos Hlishych and number 14 of national team of Greece George Papahanis. Awards were presented by the tournament director of Eurobasket 2015 MarkiyanLubkivskyy.
«The most valuable player of the tournament» is player of Serbia team Stefan Peno. The award was presented to him by the president of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine Olexandr Volkov.
National team of Turkey received awards in the nomination «Fair Play» from the gold Olympic medalist’s hands, legends of Ukrainian basketball Anatoliy Polivoda.
Bronze Medalists of the Championship U16 are players of Greece team. FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak awarded silver medalist, team of Serbia. Gold medal winners of the tournament are players of the national team of Spain.
